Offering a green and lively solution to the problem, Quadrangle Architects has come up with a renovation project called “Green Ribbon” for the Gardiner Expressway, Toronto. Stretching in the span of seven kilometers, from downtown Toronto to the western suburbs, the Green Ribbon will not just uplift the surroundings but also make the expressway is a worthy visiting place, which of course will be a blessing in disguise for the travelers.

Al Hakawati (the storyteller) is an emblem of the Arabic world
Located in Zaabeel Park, Dubai, the Al Hakawati (the storyteller in Arabic) by Visiondivision is an iconic tall emblem structure designed for a competition named “Thyssenkrupp Elevator Award” that will recite historic anecdotes of the Arabic city and its people with animated body language. Featuring a number of spaces for performance and reading within, the statue also houses a children’s library at the base that includes a vast collection of books, telling the folklore of the Arabic world to the kids. Moreover, the Zaabeel Park will include small speakers in every corner of the park, which will let the visitors listen and enjoy the stories (or folktales) recited by the statue.

Ice chess – Game over if it melts!
This was one of those games, played almost a fortnight back, where winning was a not a criteria. The clash between Russian and British chess masters Anatoly Karpov and Nigel Short (respectively) ended up in a draw, ending the “cold war”.
The pawns were made from ice; some of these pawns were carved in a way that they represented various famous landmarks of the two cities. The game was held on a chessboard measuring 64 square yards, with each team being allotted 30 seconds for each move.

Swine flu brings a brave face mask fashion up again
Regardless of the state, it’s infected count, or it’s proximity to Mexico City’s epicenter, citizens are in panic, chaos has set in. In a bid to stay positive, a few brave souls have started decorating their swine flu face masks, in Mexico City. Call it a fashion statement or firm determination, the one who puts a brave face during crises is a winner in brighter times.
