It was a golden moment, driving outside of the capital city of Antananarivo, located on the island nation of Madagascar. The setting sun hit the city just right, bathing it in a golden glow…

The island country of Madagascar is truly a wonderful and amazing place… rich in its cultural, historical and natural diversity. Here, in a village outside of the capital city of Antananarivo, women thresh newly harvested rice, collecting the grains for one of their main dietary staples.

Status: Vulnerable (IUCN status), Vulnerable (CITES appendix I)
Ringtailed lemurs (Lemur catta) are part of the Lemuridae family, which is a family of pro-simians, related to monkeys and apes, and includes all the lemurs on Madagascar.
