The strange color of Meknes, Morocco

Chef Chaouen is a little town about two hours drive southeast of Tangiers. The Casbah, the old original town, is drenched in blues of various shades, hues and intensities. The image above is not a badly color corrected image (look at the skin tones). Because there is blue everywhere, there is a consequent blue cast on everything. White Balance in the camera continues to try to find some kind of familiar notion of ‘white balance’ and not finding it…gives up and submits to the sublime hues of blue….
