These sahrawi children live in refiugee camps in El Tindouf, in the nearby territory of Argelia. The citizens of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic have, what a pity, neither strong lobbies in the world (in particular none in the USA) nor one single drop of oil in their territory, to get the necessary international attention and recognition of their national claims. These children spent the summer in Valencia, as other hundred ones, their stay and medical checks financed by spanish NGOs. Spain’s former regime of 70′s, in its late hours, left the sahrawi people in the hands of occupying moroccan forces.

Some insights in the life of the Smara refugees camp of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic settled down in Algeria. Around 150.000 people live in the middle of the desert close to the algerian town of Tindouf, under the most difficult conditions, after leaving their home country forced by the illegal moroccan occupation of the former spanish colony of West Sahara in 1976.

Interpretations range from physical tethers to the more metaphysical, such as representations of connections between animals and people or landscapes.
